This website highlights the story and evolution of the Houndog Drag Racing Team one of the UK's top drag racing teams from the 1960's through to its "retirement" in the late 1980's. More recent news about the relaunch of the team that took place at the Autosport show in January 2004 is also covered.
The site covers the history of the team, from the early / mid 1960's with a Jaguar engined car through to the 1980's state of the art nitro burning Funny Car.
During my time on the team in the mid 1980's we were forced to build a new car, following an awful fire in Sweden. The demise of the old car and the building of the Corvette is covered with some behind the scenes photos.
I started this site with pictures from my own collection, but thanks to the many people who have sent me pictures over the last couple of years, the Gallery shows the various cars in all their glory. There are also some other related photos, many from personal collections and taken "behind the scenes".
In the heydays of the 1970's and 1980's when drag racing was, arguably, much bigger than today, there were numerous press articles on the team, both in the specialist and popular press, many of which have been scanned and put on this site.
A section exists for anecdotes, primarily about the Houndog team, but also the old drag racing era in general, that will hopefully grow with "old war stories" over time (with thanks to Chris Dorsett of Trakbytes for the idea!)
Most visitors (according the statistics I get) are regular visitors, so to enable a quick check on what is new since your last visit, there is the Whats New section.
Finally, I have included some links to sites that have either provided material to enable this site to grow or have something of interest for anyone visiting this site.
The site is normally updated on or about the 1st of every month. More frequent updates occur if something extremely newsworthy and time critical takes place.
